Wil Murray was born in Calgary, Canada in 1978; he studied painting at the Alberta College of Art and Design.

He has exhibited across the world, including The National Gallery of Canada, East and Peggy Phelps Galleries(Claremont CA) and Staatsgalerie Prenzlauer Berg(Berlin) . In 2008 he recieved an honourable mention in the prestigious RBC Canadian Painting Competition for his painting "Sexe Maniac Maniac Maniac Maniac Maniac". He was most recently chosen by Amir Fattal for the Atelier project at The Funkhaus Nalepastrasse, Berlin.

Murray also played in several notoriously loud and short-spoken experimental bands, including The American Deathfuckers and Black Black.

He currently lives and works in Berlin.
